The Porsche 912 was raced in the 1960'es at a number of famous rally events. With Sobieslav Zasada at the steering wheel Porsche won some of these rallies ...
As mentioned the Porsche 912 has played a role in rally history, and for that reason it was obvious to participate in todays historic rallies ...
4th International Historic Rallye Denmark 2001
In September 2001 we participated in the "4th International Historic Rallye Denmark 2001" (www.historicrallyedenmark.dk). It is the only international old car rally in Denmark. Since our 912-model was not finish at the time of the race, we borrowed a Porsche 356 B Coupe (1962) instead. Unfortunately the race was ended half way through, because two of the participants died in a car crash during the rally. The cause of the deaths was later on determined to be a heart attack.
In April 2002 the above mentioned rally was regathered. This time the rally was a memorial version - in memorial of the two competitants who died.
The restoration of our Porsche 912 was ended at the end of March 2002, so this was the first opportunity to "race" it for real. We participated in the tourist class - a class for beginners without all the really difficult stuff. It was very exiciting !!! And - believe it or not - we ended up in the second place of the tourist class.
Historisk Sommerrally - Vejen - August 2002
A non-international rally with less competitors than the international rally. We fetched home the first place in our class (not too difficult due to the small amount of competitors).
5th Internationsl Historic Rallye Denmark 2002
In September 2002 we joined the "5th International Historic Rallye Denmark 2002" which again offered great fun for the competitors. As a section of this years rally a special test was made on a former ferry berth. The aim of the test was to drive through the ferry berth in a special pattern and in a specified period of time. Great fun was also delivered at this stage of the rally, especially due to the great number of first gear 180-degree turns = powerslides! More than 1.000 spectators watched the fun.
We ended up in third place in the touring class with the same amount of points as the class winner (we were moved down to third place due to the bigger engine of our car).
